Hi Currents and Alumni,

It has been like 5 years since SP Rovers last visit Berkelah Waterfall.. Those are the trip that you can really experience wildlife camping, mountain trekking, outdoor cooking and nice waterfall.. Haha.. By listing all this, i am already excited.. Are you?

So dun hestiant to join us and these are the trip informations:

Date: 1st Oct (Fri) to 3rd Oct (Sun)

Time to meet: 11pm sharp (1st Oct)

Venue to meet: Kranji MRT station

Cost: $60/- (will be cheaper if we met max pax)

Rough program: 11pm sharp - meet at Kranji MRT Station
12mn - travel to Singapore custom and Malaysia Custom
1am - Take coach bus to foot of Berkelah

Good day to all Alumnis, Senior Rovers and Current Rovers,

I think it good to post AGM Minutes of meeting on the website as everyone can view and give comments. I start off with my speech and follow up with Budgeting and Training..

RSL: "The new 29th Ex-co have been formed and officially taken over the post from the 28th Ex-co on AGM day. This year, we have make alot of changes in the event structures, club management and training program.

Event/program structure
The Ex-co and RSLC had agree that most event will be like FO event where we keep recruiting new members from our scouts and guide list and organise more interesting event. This way, SP Rovers will grow in membership by 75% more for the next 3 years.

Pioneering day - 28th Aug (Sat) 1000hrs - 1700hrs

AHM Run - 12th Sep (Sun)
Survival Camp (TBC) - 18th to 19th Sep (Sat Sun)

Club Management/Club image
We have bring back 2 sabre shark patrol Hammerhead and Great White with 2 active PL leading the patrol. SP Rovers image will change within the next few year with all the QM day, troop t-shirt and campfire t-shirt. RSLC has limit the uniform wearing for key appointment holder only (namely RSLC, club chairperson, Vice-chairperson and PRO). We also want to raise the reputation of SP Rovers in SP. Therefore, we will organize event/competition for SP student and SP club.

SP Rovers Budgeting
- All SP Rovers fund/petty cash will be in charge by RSL and Ex-co treasurer only.
- Both RSL and Ex-co treasurer will have an account book which keep track of all transactions.
- RSL will be incharge of the SP Rovers fund and Ex-co treasurer will incharge of the petty cash.
- Profit earn from event, 70% will be credit into Rovers fund and 30% will be credit into petty cash
- Fund are allocated to skill development, event/equipments and reserved

Training/Test card
Chai Huat will update everyone once RSLC have finalise the skill component.

Freshman Orientation 2010

SP Rovers was founded in 1981, with a vision to groom and develop all individual with good character and leadership skills, excelling their own potential. Twenty-nine years down the road, SP Rovers has evolved into what it is today - a club which has groomed hundreds of leaders.

Outdoor activities are, but not all, an important part of many SP Rover Crews' calendars. SP Rovers provides everyone, including you, the opportunity to develop personal abilities, as well as learning plenty of new skills.

We welcome everyone, scouts/guides or not, to join us. You'll find that there's an extensive range of acitivites open to you and socially, you'll be mixing with a group of young people doing the things you want to do.

When it comes to Rover activities, imagination is your only limit.

Do you know where the biggest tomb in Singapore is at? In such a civilised country like Singapore, where do the "unseen" go to? Is Singapore as safe as it seems?

Sounds creepy? To some (scaredy cats *ehem*), it does. To us, we dare ourselves to visit one of the oldest cemeteries in Singapore! Afterall, SP Rovers is about challenging oneself and seeking fun in everything.

Hey SP Rovers!

Now that BTC is over. It's time to focus and train hard for this year's Poly 50 alright!

And guess what? This year's Poly 50 falls on the 29th of july...which means it's less than 3 weeks away! So I urged all current rovers, whether you are interested in Poly 50 or just exercising for the well being of your body, to join us for this last 5 sessions of trainings. Your presence will definitely play a part in raising our morale as a whole. Let us all train as a team and win as one!

Ahoy! Greetings from the SP Rover Crew!

We are sure you had a good time with us over the last 2 events. So here is another upcoming one for you!

Basic Training Camp(BTC)
Duration: 15th june(monday) to 18th june(thursday)

For those of you who cannot make it for the whole camp, you can still come to the investiture on the 17th of june.

Also, the annual Poly 50 race is coming soon this july! This year, it will be an even more exciting race as our alumnis are also forming up teams to join us in the fight for the top 10 positions in the respective catergories. But without hard work, nothing grows but weeds. So let us all train hard;push ourselves and win this race together! Below are the details for the trainings:

Night Cycling

Ahoy!

It's SP Rovers! After spending the special night with us, we are bringing you yet another exciting event! This time, we will cycle around Singapore, giving you a whole new perspective on our very own country.

Where and when is the event held?
The meeting venue will be at East Coast Park Mcdonald's,7pm on 30th May 2009, Saturday. However, if you do not know how to get there, you may meet us at Bedok MRT station at 6.30pm instead. Please inform us time ahead if you are meeting us at the MRT.

What can I see along the route?
Everything and anything you wanna see! We'll be cycling on park connectors and those alike from East Coast Park to town area.

How much will it cost?
The fees will be $8, inclusive of refreshment and bike rental.

Can I ride my own bike?
Yes, of course! You may do so if you're comfortable with it!

I'm interested! How do I make the payment?
Those who have not paid, please do so before the event. We are accepting payments at our clubhouse everyday, from today onwards. Our clubhouse PC1218 is beside poly centre (badminton hall), right above Food court 3. If you cannot find your way, feel free to call Sharon @ 90618609.

Please collect the indemnity forms outside our clubhouse, PC1218, beside poly centre. You will not be able to attend the event if the form is not filled.

Firstly, we will like to welcome our new batch of Year Ones into our Crew! We're definitely sure you've been having fun with us so far!

How has polytechnic life been for all of you? I hope everyone is doing fine, healthy and pumping with energy! Especially with the recent issues on the swine flu; do take very good care of yourselves and drink more water!

Rovers Big Foot has been called off due to financial problem and wrong timing. I want to thank all members who contribute for the event. It has been great working with you all. Dear all rovers,

The design of the unit shirt both polo-t and t-shirts have been finalise and sent out duly for printing.
Will like u guys to reply as soon as possible with regards to the sizing of ;

1.) T-Shirt size

2.) Polo-T size

a sizing chart have been attach for your refrence.

and with regards to this, please pay to the current treasuer Sharon Lok in 2 weeks time starting from this date of the email.
Our RSL, Justin, have agreed to use his own pocket money first for the timing being to buy all the shirts which the grand total amount to SGD1250. So in order to lessen this burden, please remember to pay promptly.

Details of the payment and designs are as follow:

1.) Black Dri-fit T-Shirt with "I Love SP Rovers" logo. total amount of 2 colors use.
2.) Purple HoneyComb Polo Shirt with troop logo at the front and design at the back. total amount of nine colors use.
for the polo-t, it is exculsive to only rovers that have been successfully invested into the unit. (eg. BTC)

total amount for both of the shirts will be at a discounted rate of SGD25 instead of the original amount of SGD33.

3.) Please make payments directly or via bank transfer to Sharon Lok (9061 8609)(sharon9280@hotmail.com). Contact her for any enquires with regards to payment.

March 2009 Updates

Ahoy! Greetings from SP Rovers!

Here are some updates about what we've been doing recently.

Last Saturday, on 14 March 2009, SP Rovers volunteered at the 'Are You Red-D' Youth Concert for the Singapore Heart Foundation, jointly collaborated with the Singapore Scouts Association. This is in conjunction with the Go Red! For Women campaign. Let's just say our Crew sweated loads to do all the setting up and tearing down of the event venue but I'm sure it was all worthwhile. I'm having a little trouble trying to upload the pictures here, so just click on the links below to view our group photos, yup!

In other news, a year has passed on and a new batch of EXCO has been elected for the academic year of 2009/2010. Prior to the new term, enrolment took place last week and our Crew had set up a booth to promote ourselves to the new batch of students. To date, we have more than 70 interested parties! Let's hope to see more of them during FO this coming April, alright! Senior Rovers, do keep yourselves free for the weekends in the month of April and May to join us for our upcoming FO activities!

Starting of a new Academic years, we need a new set of leaders to bring SP rovers to a greater height. And it is a time for us to acknowledge and appreciate the hardworks and commitments contribute by the previous ex-co. Be there to witness this meaningful handover.

BASIC TRAINING CAMP 2008 (BTC)

Dear Brother and Sister,
The annual BTC is coming soon. I have the latest update on the number of participants for the camp and i can tell you is quite convincing that this year BTC will be a good one. But we still need all alumni and current rovers' supports to make the camp a successful one... So If anyone who are free during that period of time and want to help, can call Aaron 97686678.

Rough program:
9 june - loading & unloading of equipments and admin stuffs both in SP and serimbum
camp

Rovers Event Membership Package

Attention all alumni and current rovers..

SP rovers Ex-co and council committee have come out an 'Event Membership Package' for all SP rovers alumni and current rovers.

The detail:
- 2 X Troop tees and 1 year membership at $80/- per pax
- The 1 year membership can let you enjoy all the event organise by
SP rovers for free (e.g BTC, Survival camp,30hours survival quest,
major event and DnD)
- The membership will take effect on the day of the payment and
expired 1 year after the date of payment.
- The troop tees are design by Eelaine (who have great talents in
fabric and graphic design).

Pengerang Cycling Trip 21st to 22nd June

Hi guys,

these are the details for the trip, please check thru if it is fine with you all. This is going to be a leisure trip, more for get-together so focus is on relaxing, so no worries on people going too fast on bike.

Accomodation: Millenium Hotel (Recommended by Yinghuei)

RM $250 for 5 rooms and a hall (1 level of the hotel). Cost will be shared by all of us, and one room can sleep at least 2-3 person.

Bike: Rent from Changi Village
Supposed should be about $20 for overnight per bike. If you have your own bike, you can bring your own. I'll bring my own.

Boat ride: $8 per person (1 way)

Food: We can have seafood for lunch then for dinner and next day's breakfast we can decide again. Approximately bringing another S$30-40 will be more than enough to cover for everything else (including shopping)

Computation based on 12 pax:
Accomodation - RM$250 / 12 = RM$21 (approx. S$10)
Bike S$ 20
Boat ride S$ 16 (2 ways)

Dear Alumni,

Recruitment period has been always be an important period for SP rovers to recruit freshmen to our club. So now is the time!! The current rover need manpower to mend the booth, because Aaron do not want the current rover to skip lecture in order to mend the booth. So the chairperson of the CCA booth will work out a time schedule and will need alumni's' precious time to slot into the vacant time slot... I would urge any alumni who are free on that day to come down and help up on the recuitment. These are the details of the CCA booth:

SINGAPORE POLYTECHNIC ROVERS!

Hi to all, welcome to SP Rovers’ Campfire: A Night In The Village 2008! Thank you for being here to witness the growth of the only polytechnic Rovers in Singapore.

I was appointed to be the club’s Rovers Scout Leader in November 2007. My role in the troop is to serve all Rovers in the club as a servant leader. My vision is to develop every individual to be of good character and moral values. Moving forward, I’ve taken a huge step to expand the Rovers Scout Leader Council (RSLC), from a 2-men team to an 8-person committee. I hereby thank them for stepping out of their comfort zone and assisting me in bringing the club to a higher platform.

I’d like to extend my invitation to all leaders to attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 29th March 2008, from 2.00pm to 5.00pm.

In order to forge a stronger relationship and create relevance between Scouting and Rovering, the plans of SP Rovers will be shared during the AGM. The new batch of Executive Committee will also be inducted. Our affiliated partner, Cheers Connect International Pte Ltd, will also share the areas of collaboration with SP Rovers. I assure you that your time will be well made used of during this AGM. I hope that we, being part of the Rovering community, will do our part by making our existence known and purposeful.

Once again, thank you for being here today! The campfire will be less exciting without your presence! Enjoy yourselves and keep your passion in Scouting and Rovering high!
